Titanium Diboride

TiB₂ is the most stable of several titanium-boron compounds. Titanium Diboride has the following key characteristics:

  • High Modulus of Rupture (410-448MPa)
  • Excellent Hardness (1800 Knoop)
  • Corrosion resistant against many molten metals
  • Erosion Resistance

Applications:
  • Hot-pressed composites of excellent electrical conductivity for continuous aluminum metalizing
  • Hot pressed TiB₂ armor plates
  • Cutting tools and cermets, used for maching aluminium
  • Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs)
  • Crucible material for non-ferrous metals
